Western Sydney music producer, Leoperdz, is remarkable. Inspired by heavy bass and anime, the
young gun producer has twelve albums under his belt and gained admiration from the international Drum and Bass label, Full Send. Yet in Australia Leoperdz remains a well kept secret. We catch up with the bass heavy big cat to find out what he's about.

RM: G'day Leoperdz! We're really excited about your music. Tell us about what genres you make?
Leoperdz: I make a lot of things. I mainly produce Drum and Bass, Happy Hardcore, IDM, Progressive House and Electro. I Personally enjoy making Drum and Bass the most. Its really fun making my own gnarly bass lines. I mix in a sprinkle of IDM because it just takes you on a different journey.
RM: You’ve been producing music for a while now? When did you start?
Leoperdz: I started making music when i was in high school. I was 17 at the time. I would procrastinate school work, and i would be music on my iPad using GarageBand. I had a friend who I wanted to collaborate with. He made these awesome melodies and chords and I'd be learning off him, it made me wonder if that was how my favourite electronic artists made music. So i watched tutorial videos on how they make it, but it seems to me they use such complex DAW that would take a lot of time for me to learn.
RM: What inspired the name 'Leoperdz? '
Leoperdz: I have always loved leopards. They are my spirit animals. In spiritual meaning they are defined as strength, power, courage and determination, that also defines who I am.
RM: Who are the music producers who have influenced you over the years?
Leoperdz: Skrillex was my biggest influence back in the early days. I remember watching a lot of his interviews about his passion with music. Watching his interviews has taught me positives ways to achieve things. This quote from Skrillex always motivates me whenever I struggle to face my challenges - “Obstacles are an opportunity to create something new”.

RM: You have done some collaborations with some of the artists from Full Send Dn’B. Who have you collabed with? What is it like to work with the Full Send artists?
Leoperdz: It was awesome, I had a proper collab with Hertenfels. It was my first time being featured I someones project. Like, I tried to behave myself on how many basslines I add to the track, because I don’t wanna overwrite too much on his song. But yeah still waiting on the other boys who are working on some of my tracks, and really can’t wait to do more collab with the crew.
RM: You’re a bit of a weeb, you LOVE your anime, does anime inspire your music?
Leoperdz: Yeah, anime inspires my music 100% I love remixing the anime intro songs and a lot of vocaloid songs too, its amazing. I get a lot of good ideas and references from background music and also good track naming ideas for my songs.
RM: Of all the anime you’ve watched, which series has the best theme song?
Leoperdz: Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man all the way! With Jujutsu Kaisen's opening, the 1 and 2 soundtracks are amazing, I love how energised they are. They'd really pump my adrenaline if I were to listen to em at the gym. Chainsaw Man's had some good background music. It has very good drum and bass music playing throughout the scenes.
RM: Of all your music, which track would you recommend for a first-time listener?
Leoperdz: 'Sandevistan' is one of my recommended songs to listen to, especially for anime fans and gamers. It's based on Cyberpunk 2077 Edge Runners, named after a weapon they use in the anime. It's a popular anime nowadays. This song will feed your ears!
